A Magical place in our country
Just when you begin to plan to embark on a journey to a foreign country to experience place of natural beauty, or cultural heritage sites, surprisingly you start coming across photos from Pakistan, often revealing sites that we, as masses, have been oblivious to.
Yes, I am going to highlight the bioluminescence that may be witnessed at Sapat Bander beach in Balochistan, Pakistan. It goes without saying that, of Pakistan’s 1,046 KM coastline, a large part of it remains unexplored, thanks to lack of infrastructure that has given a chance to wildlife to thrive.

While Bioluminescent phenomena is amongst the spellbinding phenomenon to experience, it is caused by bioluminescent plankton, mainly by algea floating in the water. There are a lot of other things that happen behind the phenomena, but I’d rather leave the inconvenience to you to do some research, but in short plankton is a microscopic organism, which is a source of food for fish and this blue light is part of their defense mechanism to perplex the predator.
Where can you experience this phenomena?
While there are quite a few places in Pakistan where one can experience bioluminescent phenomena, like at Sapat Bandar beach, bhit khori and near Gadani, there are some other places in the world where you may experience this phenomena.

Moreover, before you get carried away with drive to witness it yourself, bear in my mind that unlike what you see in the photos, witnessing the phenomena with bare eyes is different since the blue light is produced for a relatively short amount of time; therefore, to take the photo, you have to adjust your camera setting accordingly, preferably using long exposure setting of your camera.
Important information:
Prior to visiting this place, remember you might not be lucky enough to experience the phenomena since it does not happen every night. From the articles I read on the said topic, the likelihood of phenomena occurring is higher around ‘Full moon’, or in other words, there is no moonlight at all.
